Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter (Berner)
Main idea: Ten things happen on one page — we look for Aunt Květa, Ondra, the fox. Perfect for noticing and talking.
Berner fills a page with ten things happening at once. We look for Aunt Květa, Ondra, the fox…
We treat Spring–Summer–Autumn–Winter as one set — perfect for noticing and talking. The four seasons are joined by Noc (Night — a summer night in the town, with a raccoon hiding on every page) and, newly, Vánoce v městečku (Christmas in Town). Paseka notes that, chronologically, the story starts in Winter.
It builds vocabulary, imagination and “little detectives” in children.
Activity tip: With the kids we picked one character and followed them through the whole season — what do they do at the start and end?
